Victorian Hand Engraved Band

A beautifully preserved Victorian band with elaborate hand engraving wrapping across the broad face of the ring. Deep scrolling and foliate details catch the light from every angle, with the pattern continuing around the shoulders before giving way to a smooth band at the back.

Inside is an old hand engraved inscription with initials and the beginning of a date, “18—,” with the final two digits no longer legible. I especially love these traces of a piece's earlier life, and in this case the inscription places its own history firmly in the 19th century.
