A wonderfully unusual circa 1960 Victorian Revival slide charm, set with deep blue sapphires in the star setting style so loved by antique jewelry collectors. Graduated sapphires radiate across the five-point star, with the largest stone at the center.
Slide jewelry originated in the Victorian era, when decorative slides were worn on long chains and used to adjust their length. The style experienced a major revival in the mid-20th century, and this example retains its original cork inside to help hold it in position.
Today, simply thread it onto a fine chain or cord and wear it as a pendant. Unlike a traditional charm, the chain passes directly through the slide, allowing the star to sit beautifully centered without a visible bail. It can be worn alone as a focal point or layered into a larger necklace stack.
Era: c. 1960
